The Violet Crown Sports Association was organized in 1981 by a small group of Austin cyclists. It is the oldest continuously active racing and riding social club in Austin. We have a diverse group of men and women riders ranging from the junior to master level. Currently there are over 260 active, dues-paying members, many of whom still race regularly, while others have “retired” from racing but still ride recreationally. We have hosted monthly meetings for over 30 years, meeting on the first Monday of the month. Whether it’s a presentation on the latest carbon wheels set, sponsor's products or a notable guest speaker, we provide engaging new topics of interest to our members.

We count among our ranks many present and former Texas State Champions. Some of our former junior members have graduated to national development teams and moved into the pro ranks, including Kristian House, the 2009 British National Road Race Champion. Our members are mostly serious recreational riders, racers or former racers, who take an active and continuing interest in cycling. We are active in bike advocacy in Austin and Texas.

We lead four group rides each week - long rides on Saturdays & Sundays and morning rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our rides offer various level of engagement for different cycling abilities, from fast pace hills workouts to mellow recovery rides. All but the Saturday ride depart from Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop, in downtown Austin, Texas.

Violet Crown has been actively promoting races in central Texas since the 1980s, including the Texas State Criterium Championships (2009 & 2010) and the Texas State Cyclorcross Championships (2013-14). For the past ten years, we have promoted Webberville Cyclocross, an annual regional cyclocross race, as our signature event. Additionally, in 2018 we sponsored the Hammerfest Stage Road Race in Fort Davis, Texas.

In 2018, we developed a women’s specific race development team, The Violet Crown Women’s Race Team. Our mission is to grow a local community-oriented team of women cyclists who want to learn the art of competitive bike racing. This program seeks to provide mentorship and coaching to female cyclists to improve their cycling knowledge, fitness, and racing abilities. The end goal for the program is to help riders learn the necessary skills and confidence to compete at local, state and regional races, enjoy team camaraderie, promote Violet Crown and attract more women to the sport of cycling. The Violet Crown Men’s Racing Team provides an avenue back to the racing roots of the Violet Crown. Racing has been a part of the charter and heritage of Violet Crown since it’s inception. The team seeks to grow and inspire individuals with the desire to race by providing the structure, experience, and camaraderie. RACE RESULTS

Part of Violet Crown’s legacy was developing Kristian House from a young junior racer in Austin into the 2009 British National Road Race Champion. After Kristian retired from professional cycling he came back to Violet Crown to help support new junior racers on their journey and the Violet Crown Junior Development Program was born. The primary goal of the Junior Development Program is to foster young athletes’ potential future success in cycling and give them the skills to tackle any challenges that life throws at them. The program provides the necessary framework to improve an athlete's skillset and foster their cycling development by receiving professional level coaching from Kristian. Through the support of the club and Kristian House, our juniors qualified for and attended the USA Cycling Talent ID camps in South Carolina and Colorado this summer, with two receiving invitations to compete in Canada’s Tour of l'Abitibi. BIB SPONSORS enjoy the exclusive and only logo placement on the club bib-short; BIB sponsors enjoys all the benefits of the

club and helps to offset costs of maintaining the club’s infrastructure, such as the club’s website and ecommerce store.

RACE SPONSORS offset the cost of club promoted races and receive name association with a specific club event. Race sponsors also help to promote the Women’s and Men’s Race Team. Benefits includes visibility at local, state, and national race events.

JERSEY SPONSORS are differentiated by the placement of their logos on the club and team kit. Jersey sponsors help to offset costs of the jersey and other clothing for club members.

CLUB SPONSORS help promote the annual administration of the club by contributing funds to the once a month Monday club meeting, special club rides, and club/community events, such as the 4th of July Ride and the club’s holiday party.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SPONSORS would receive naming rights to the team and placement of their logo on the jersey. This is a great opportunity to market the sponsor's brand and services. The junior racers are exposed to a variety of local and national media outlets and the sponsors can expect a minimum of one social media post per week. The juniors also ride thousands of miles in and around the Austin area and act as a mobile billboard for the sponsor's logo. Any money paid by the sponsor will go 100% to the juniors. There are no overhead costs levied by the club.

***With exceptions, product sponsors can donate goods and services or offer discounts for jersey/kit placement or other types of

promotion in lieu of monetary contribution. Other logos for product/indirect funders of the club (e.g. Mellow Johnny’s) may still

share jersey space and sponsor benefits, such as social media call outs and web page logo presence. The following matrix

indicates the various benefits of the different sponsorship levels:
